a friend once told me,
"the worst thing that
could happen to a poet
is to fall in love."

when i write love poems
i feel like a bad actress
i lack romance
but not passion
i never lack passion......
it’s not that sensuality
is beyond me either

when i fell......
you didn’t catch me
perhaps i imagined
you were my friend

when i was drowning
you didn’t as much
as throw me a rope
you pushed me under....
and laughed in my wake

love is a word you use
with a yawn
one of those words
used to break the silence
or fill the void
